MEET YOUR RETREAT FACILITATORS
Marla Teyolia is a Master Executive Coach, Strategic Advisor, + Wisdom Keeper reinventing how women Heal, Lead, & Rise.
Having facilitated over 50+ retreats across the United States, Europe, Mexico, Morocco, and the Ivory Coast, Marla is passionate about creating sacred spaces for women to do the deeply transformative, lineage-shifting work of healing themselves and reclaiming their power. As a sought after executive coach, she works with senior level executives, Founders, and Visionary Leaders .
Her family lineage is Indigenous to Mexico with her matrilineal line originating in the lands that are now known as San Jose del Cabo. This retreat is an extension of the legacy of healing and resistance of her ancestors.
Marla straddles multiple worlds: from her Ivy League training to her apprenticeships with curanderas and espiritistas. She apprenticed with Master Curandera, Elena Avila, for four years during her mid-20’s. This Mesoamerican, holistic healing system has deeply informed how she approaches transformational leadership development and growth – one connected to personal agency, community, lineage, and ritual. Deeply influenced by her own experiences and 25+ years of study in yoga, meditation, breathwork, somatic practices and trauma-informed healing, Marla brings all of these modalities to her retreats.
Dr. Claudia Serrato is a Xicana Indigenous culinary anthropologist, chef, educator, cultural practitioner, and public scholar whose work centers ancestral taste memory—the understanding that food carries memory, relationship, medicine, and ancestral knowledge across generations.
Raised in East Los Angeles on the foods, flavors, and teachings of her elders, Claudia has spent more than two decades sharing Indigenous and Mesoamerican foodways through workshops, retreats, cultural gatherings, culinary experiences, and educational programs. Through food, storytelling, and cultural teachings, she helps people reconnect with memory, belonging, and the wisdom carried through ancestral traditions.
Her connection to Baja California Sur is deeply personal. In the 1970s, her grandmother migrated from Michoacán to La Ribera, where her parents and extended family continue to live today. The region has long been a place of family, gathering, and nourishment, shaping her understanding of food, migration, memory, and home.
Claudia’s work has been featured by The New York Times, NPR’s Good Food, ABC News, Hulu, Tastemade, and Eater. At the heart of her work is a simple belief: ancestral knowledge lives in the foods we prepare, the flavors we remember, and the traditions we carry forward.
